Dr. Gary Machlis, environmental sustainability expert, will be speaking at Museum of the Rockies Hager Auditorium on Monday, September 23 at 7:00 PM. The talk will feature stories and ideas from his new book, Sustainability for the Forgotten.
This event is free and open to all. The talk will begin at 7:00 PM, and will be followed by an audience Q&A. Please note that this event is in person and will not be livestreamed.
Dr. Machlis will be hosting a discussion at the Country Bookshelf on Sunday, September 22 from 4-6 PM. A copy of his book can be purchased at this event.

Gary Machlis
Dr. Gary Machlis is a Professor of Environmental Sustainability at Clemson University and served as Science Advisor to the Director, U.S. National Park Service (NPS) from 2009-2014. Dr. Machlis also served as co-Leader of the U.S. Department of the Interior’s Strategic Sciences Group, which conducted scientific assessments during major environmental crises such as the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill and Hurricane Sandy. He has written numerous books and scientific papers on issues of human ecology, society and the environment, conservation, and sustainability, including The State of the World's Parks, The Future of Conservation in America: A Chart for Rough Water, and American Covenant: National Parks and our Nation’s Future. Dr. Machlis is an elected Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
