Dr. Tim McDermott is a Professor in the Department of Land Resources & Environmental Sciences at Montana State University. His research is focused on soil and environmental microbiology, specifically: microbe-metalloid interactions involving arsenic, selenium, and antimony; microbial ecophysiology and population genetics in geothermal environments; and Yellowstone Lake picoplankton structure and function. Techniques and methods used include fundamental molecular genetics, genomics and metagenomics, cultivation dependent and independent microbial ecology techniques.
