Dr. Katrina Mullan an environmental economist at the University of Montana, working on the behavioral responses of rural households to changes in natural resources, and to alternative policy mechanisms for conservation. She focuses mainly on deforestation in international contexts, and examines the implications of both deforestation and forest protection for rural development. Mullan carries out quantitative empirical work, primarily using household survey data, in conjunction with remote sensing data on land cover and other types of spatial data.
