Dr. Travis Belote earned his Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from Virginia Tech in 2008 and serves as a forest ecologist in the Research Department of The Wilderness Society in its Northern Rockies Regional Office in Bozeman, Montana. His research focuses on questions related to how ecological communities are structured and their response to disturbance, land-use change, natural resource management, and aspects of global change (including biological invasions). A primary goal of his research is to increase understanding of ecosystems to guide conservation, restoration, and sustainable management of natural resources. He serves as an Associate Editor for the journal Biological Invasions, and his research has been published in top ecological journals including Ecology, Frontiers in Ecology and the Environment, Forest Ecology and Management, and Ecological Restoration. Since 2009, he has served the Southwestern Crown of the Continent collaborative by co-developing the successful CFLRP proposal, co-organizing, and co-chairing its Monitoring Committee. He also serves on the Montana Forest Restoration Committee and is involved in the Lolo and Lincoln Restoration committees.
