Research Interests:
Bird migration is a remarkable feature of the country’s natural heritage that both, directly and indirectly, supports the interests of tens of millions of outdoor enthusiasts each year. My research explores the behavior and ecology of migratory birds and seeks to inform on their conservation and management. Toward that larger goal, my work follows two broad themes: 1) understanding migratory bird movements, the manner in which birds use habitats, and how these aspects of their biology relate to potential impacts of anthropogenic activity on bird conservation, and 2) advancing the remote sensing technologies biologists use to study birds and other wildlife.
