My educational background includes the following: BS in Biology from the University of Michigan; MS in Forest Resources with Sociology Minor from Penn State; Ph.D. in Nutrition from Penn State. My teaching emphasizes ecological, political and economic aspects and consequences of food choices. My research has included assessing knowledge, attitudes, and experiences related to food systems among high school students, creating and assessing the impact of interdisciplinary food system university curriculum focused on sustainability and evaluating methods used to teach sustainability and food system concepts to nutrition and dietetic students.
