I'm interested in creating software tools to answer questions in computation biology that aren't always easy to get at because of time, money, and feasibility constraints. Conservation is an important part of my work, and creating the tools necessary to not only answer theoretical questions, but practical ones with the ability to predict future outcomes for the problems of today.

My specific research focus is in Computational Ecology: developing, optimizing, and applying individual-based simulation programs for understanding relationships between biological processes, environment, and climate with population patterns across landscapes. My goal is to produce tools that will be valuable to natural resources managers, planners, decision makers, and scientists with a stake in maintaining biodiversity from genes to ecosystems.
