Angryk, Rafal

Associate Professor
Computer Science
Montana State University - Bozeman

I received my Ph.D. in Computer Science degree in 2004 from Tulane University, New Orleans. I am currently employed as an Associate Professor in the Computer Science Department at Montana State University. My current research interests lie in the areas of the organization and computational analysis of very large data repositories (i.e. Databases, Machine Learning and Data Mining). My research has been sponsored by the NGA, NASA, NSF, RightNow Technologies and Intergraph Corporation.

Citizen Scientists help study effects of climate on elk foraging patterns

A group of citizen scientists braved foul weather to help learn about the impact of climate change on elk in the Upper Yellowstone River Basin.

Cleveland, Sean

Associate Director of the Research Computing Group for Software and Informatics
Research Computing Group/Center for Computational Biology
Montana State University - Bozeman

I have been either a student or staff member at MSU in Bozeman since 1998 and I have been developing software since I received my Bachelors degree in 2003. Currently I am working on my P.h.D in Microbiology with an emphasis in Bioinformatics in addition to doing software development for the RCG.

Cyberinfrastructure, the behind-the-scenes capacity that enables new science

The Montana Institute on Ecosystems is building capacity to help scientists work together and address growing big data challenges through cyberinfrastructure.

Jacobs, Gwen

Professor of Neuroscience
Cell Biology and Neuroscience
Montana State University

Dr. Jacobs received her undergraduate training in Human Anatomy and Physiology from UC Berkeley, a Masters Degree in Physiology from UC Davis and her PhD in Neuroscience from SUNY Albany. She was on the faculty at UC Berkeley for 15 years prior to taking her current position at Montana State University where she is a Professor of Neuroscience and Interim Director of Research Computing.

Larson, Robb

Associate Professor

Research Computing Group / Center for Computational Biology
Montana State University - Bozeman

Pol is a software engineer/administrator/project manager working with the Research Computing Group. He has been working on the problems of Scientific Data Management (many and complex) with the Research Computing Group, but he has also directed his attention to the problems of academic data management as well. He is the lead developer on the Faculty Activity Database, a lead developer with the Yogo project, and a project lead on the Crux project. He also contributes his experience and sunny disposition to the systems administration team of the Research Computing Group.

Sheppard, John

Professor
Computer Science
Montana State University - Bozeman

Dr. John Sheppard was the inaugural RightNow Technologies Distinguished Professor in Computer Science at Montana State University and currently holds an appointment as Associate Professor in the Computer Science Department at MSU. He is also an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Johns Hopkins University. In 2007, he was elected as an IEEE Fellow "for contributions to system-level diagnosis and prognosis." Prior to joining Hopkins, he was a Fellow at ARINC Incorporated in Annapolis, MD where he worked for almost 20 years. Dr.

Snider, Ross

Associate Professor
Electrical and Computer Engineering
Montana State University - Bozeman

I'm developing tools (both hardware and software) to help collect and processing data for research activities in both auditory neuroscience and biochemistry (proteomics). I'm interesting in using FPGAs for custom embedded computing applications (data recording and processing). I'm interested in how the human brain processes both visual and auditory information.

I teach computer engineering and signal processing courses in the ECE department.
