I'm interested in creating software tools to answer questions in computation biology that aren't always easy to get at because of time, money, and feasibility constraints. Conservation is an important part of my work, and creating the tools necessary to not only answer theoretical questions, but practical ones with the ability to predict future outcomes for the problems of today.

My recent experimental and theoretical studies have been focused on an analysis of the "codes" with which nerve cells in sensory systems represent information about external stimuli, the neural mechanisms through which that information is processed within subsequent stages of the nervous system, and the extent to which the nervous system may have become optimized through evolution.

I am generally interested in interdisciplinary applied algorithms problems that require a combination of theory and practice solve. My current research interests are in computational biology (proteomics, systems biology and algorithms) and networking (algorithms for wireless and energy-aware networking, cloud computing).
