Joseph Shaw is Professor of Optics and Electrical Engineering, Affiliate Professor of Physics, and Director of the Optical Technology Center at Montana State University-Bozeman. Dr. Shaw earned his Ph.D. in Optical Sciences at the University of Arizona, M.S. in Electrical Engineering at the University of Utah, and B.S. in Electrical Engineering at the University of Alaska – Fairbanks. From 1989 to 2001 he worked at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Environmental Technology Laboratory in Boulder, Colorado, and since 2001 he has been at MSU-Bozeman.  His research activities are in the development and application of novel optical remote sensing systems for interdisciplinary environmental science applications.  Dr. Shaw is a 2014 recipient of the MSU Wiley Award for Meritorious Research and Creativity, and is a Fellow of the International Society of Optics and Photonics and the Optical Society of America.
