Brian Smithers is an Assistant Research Professor in the Department of Ecology at Montana State and the Executive Director of GLORIA Great Basin, a non-profit organization that puts together groups of citizen scientists and agency personnel to monitor the long-term response of mountaintop plant communities to climate change. GLORIA Great Basin monitors 29 peaks throughout the Great Basin and is part of the international GLORIA project that monitors hundreds of in mountain ranges all over the world. Brian is in his second year at MSU with research that generally focuses on the interspecific interactions of plant species as they adjust their ranges in response to climate change.
