Shaw, Glenn

Assistant Professor
Geological Engineering
Montana Tech
Professional Summary:

I graduated from the University of Utah with an M.S. in Geological Engineering in 2000 and worked as a hydrogeologist and geological engineer from January 2000 until August 2004 at AMEC Earth and Environmental and CH2M HILL. Later I earned a Ph.D. in Environmental Systems in 2009 from the University of California, Merced. Both my M.S. and Ph.D. work involved groundwater and surface water interactions in mountain systems using dissolved gases for age dating groundwater and other geochemical and isotope tracers. After graduating from UC Merced I spent some time working on critical loads of acidification in high Sierran lakes with the U.S. Forest Service until I came to Montana Tech. I'm currently in my second year as faculty in the department of geological engineering where I teach several advanced hydrogeology and contaminant transport courses and I'm establishing research in Montana. I'm currently conducting research at Georgetown Lake and the Boulder River where I am using tracers to track groundwater interactions with the lake and river.
