Research related to environmental sciences: While on the ECE faculty at Utah State University (USU), developed the optimal Disjoint Principal Component (DRC) method for unsupervised learning (""mining"") of large sets of multi-featured of remotely sensed evironmental data. Working with evironmental engineering faculty at USU and scientists of the Norwegian Atmospheric Research Institute, the DRC method proved valuable in a number of (published) research projects such as watershed snowmwelt runoff prediction, earth movement susceptibility, source allocation of organic air pollutants and monitoring and preduction of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.
