Professional Summary: 

Wayne Freimund is Director of the Wilderness Institute and a member of the faculty of the University of Montana since 1993. His graduate courses are in Advanced Protected Area Management. He has conducted numerous studies for the National Park Service associated with the Visitor Experience and Resource Protection Program and have a continued interest in understanding and monitoring the use of National Parks. Current research projects are on the effects of mass transportation on national parks (specifically related to climate change) and the monitoring of visitor perceptions of soundscape resources. He has been working since 1998 on a cooperative program in Protected Area Management with the University of KwaZulu Natal, South Africa which has expanded to include the University of Namibia and the Copperbelt University in Zambia and Monash South Africa. He co-leads the International Seminar on Protected Area Management hosted by the University of Montana since 2000.
