Mountain Social Ecological Observatory Network

The goal of Mountain Social Ecological Observatory Network (MtnSEON) is to combine multiple sources of knowledge on how processes function within and between ecosystem elements of complex mountain landscapes in order to improve social and ecological resilience and sustainability. We will demonstrate this process in a selected region and then extend the model to other complex mountain landscapes nationally and internationally. A well-studied region in the Northern Rockies of North America will provide the setting for initial activities of MtnSEON. The Northern Rockies region encompasses Idaho, eastern Washington, and western Montana, and extends south into Wyoming and north into the Canadian Rockies.
