The Montana Institute on Ecosystems (IoE) at MSU has established a program for external Visiting Scholars to pursue their writing and research as part of a collaboration with IoE associate faculty.

Scholars are invited to come to the MSU campus for visits of one week to one month to collaborate with IoE faculty on interdisciplinary projects focused on the environment.  The purpose of the visit might include training IoE faculty in a new area of inquiry, development of a collaborative grant proposal, or preparation of a joint research paper or other scholarly outcome.  The IoE funds can be used for an honorarium, travel and per diem, and it is expected that matching funds will come from other sources.  Office space will be provided in the host’s department, and Visiting Scholars are expected to give a seminar open to all IoE Associates.  We anticipate supporting five Visiting Scholars in 2016-17 at an award level of up to $1500 each.
